Kim Wheeler - ATUNE Health Centres  - Osteopath

B App Sci (Clinical Science) / B Ost Sci /Grad Dip Osteopathic Paediatrics RMIT

Kim has had a special interest in paediatrics throughout her career. She also has special interests in elite sport performance, injury prevention, and lifestyle medicine.

Kim moved to Newcastle as a new graduate almost 25 years ago. Within a year she set up her own business – Warners Bay Osteopathic Clinic on The Esplanade at Warners Bay. The clinic grew and became a leading Osteopathic clinic with a focus on family practice and paediatrics.   Along the way, Kim was a mentor for 11 new graduate Osteopaths guiding them into working successfully in private practice.

After many years running a busy practice, it was time for a change and Kim joined the team at ATUNE in 2019 along with her treasured receptionist Roz. This change feels like coming full circle as two of the other Osteopaths on the ATUNE team were associates with Kim. We are all thriving at the lovely new Cardiff premises.

Kim’s approach is gentle and calm. Both in manner and in hands-on approach. There is a lot of information to put together at a new consult. The benefit of experience allows her to swiftly filter through what is important.  Weighing up clinical factors and physical findings leads to a diagnosis and treatment plan specific for each case.

Kim feels blessed to have found a career that is interesting, challenging, and rewarding.  Osteopathy is part detective, part clinician, and part coach.

Kim has been fortunate to be guided by World leaders in Anatomy, Paediatric Osteopathy, Functional Osteopathy, Visceral Osteopathy, Cranial Osteopathy and Osteopathic Biodynamics.   These include Irvin Korr, Michael Kuchera, Frank Willard, Jane Carriero, Viola Frymann, Shawn Centres, Bill Johnson, Caroline Stone, Sutherland Cranial Teaching Faculty in Australia and New Zealand, Biodynamics – The 9 phases and 3 Children’s phases and beyond with James Jealous, Robyn Seamer, Manuela da Rin and Werner Von Camp.

There is always more to learn. During 2020 she also gained Board Certification in Lifestyle Medicine. This skill set aligns well with the ATUNE ethos and Osteopathy generally.

Kim is also the mother of two teenagers who keep her busy with study, sport, social events and learning to drive. When time allows, she loves the outdoors both the beach and the mountains, walking the dogs, cooking great food with fresh ingredients, wine, art, reading and travel.
