Bruce Thompson - Thermotherapy Consultant
BAppSc - Physiotherapy
Bruce Thompson is a registered physiotherapist specialising in using heat and cold to treat major chronic diseases. Bruce has researched, used, and taught thermotherapy for over 30 years.
“What excites me is that even after years of suffering from complex chronic conditions, people can find the freedom to get their lives back.”
Treating Complex Chronic Disease
Up until antibiotics were developed, thermotherapy (then known as traditional hydrotherapy) was used around the world to treat acute illnesses. Today thermotherapy is being used to treat chronic pain and dysfunction in resistant chronic disease.
Bruce aims to apply his experience in acute conditions, to the chronic illnesses listed below that have some scientific evidence of being improved with thermotherapy:
- Chronic fatigue
- Fibromyalgia
- Lyme-like illnesses
- Congestive heart failure
- Hypertension
- Chronic headaches
- Autoimmune diseases especially Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Newly diagnosed dementia
- Failing memory
What ages does Bruce treat?
Bruce is comfortable working with newborns through to old age. Thermotherapy has been safely used to treat heart failure for 3-month-olds with ventricular septal defects through to 75 year-olds with congestive heart failure.
How can Bruce help you?
Heat and cold have many side effects, most of them are good for the body. When tailored to your age, preferences and reactions to treatment, thermotherapy always leaves you feeling comfortable and invigorated. Adverse side-effects are rare, usually minor and temporary.
“We know the treatment is correct when you have immediate improvements in symptoms and a gradual improvement in your disease.”
Bruce sees his major role as developing individualised protocols for people with the conditions listed above. So, during your appointment, Bruce will discuss your history and work out the most troubling symptoms of your condition. He will keep a record of this to contribute to future research.
He will work with you to find a program of thermotherapy for your condition. Then he will introduce you to Troy Lowrey who will use the latest and most comfortable thermotherapy equipment to carry out the planned treatment. Bruce will check in on how the treatment is going especially at the end of the first week and first month (if needed).
Most chronic diseases have some lifestyle causes as well, so Bruce will ask you to fill out a questionnaire highlighting areas that you may need to upgrade. Thermotherapy will get you feeling better so you can make these changes more easily with a clearer mind and a more comfortable body.
