Introducing Sarah McMann - ATUNE Podiatrist

We're excited to be welcoming to the ATUNE team, our new podiatrist, Sarah McMann. Sarah graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2015 and joins us after a stint in Sydney focusing on sports podiatry, surgery and paediatrics. As a registered podiatrist, she will be practising from our Warners Bay & Belmont centres and is looking forward to meeting new patients from the Lake Macquarie area.

The podiatry service is new to ATUNE, and we are pleased to be able to offer this therapy as part of our commitment to being Newcastle & Lake Macquarie’s premier integrated health centre.

How do I know if I need to see a podiatrist?

Podiatry is all about treating feet, ankles and the lower limbs. If you are suffering from any form of pain or discomfort in these areas, then you need to see a podiatrist. Podiatrists are highly skilled health professionals who can assist with problems related to foot and ankle pain acquired through sports training, work, ageing or disease. They offer a range of treatments including footwear recommendations.

So, don't put up with sore feet, you may be surprised at the difference just one visit to a podiatrist can make.

Types of foot pain

You might have pain associated with the heel, ball or arch of the foot. You may only experience foot pain after running, or you may have a more consistent pain due to flat feet. Perhaps your feet hurt when playing sport. Whatever the cause of your discomfort, a podiatrist will be able to help diagnose and treat the cause.

As podiatrists are foot specialists, they treat a range of conditions that manifest in the feet as a result of bone and joint disorders, such as arthritis and bunions, as well as circulatory issues caused by diabetes. But they don't just look after skeletal, muscular and soft tissue foot pain. Skin and toenail disorders including corns, warts, calluses, ingrown nails and fungal infections are all treatable through podiatry. So, if any of these are bothering you, it is time to make an appointment to see a podiatrist.
