I graduated from The University of Newcastle in 2012 with a Bachelor of Psychology. Since then I
have gained counselling and psychotherapy experience as a psychologist with individuals and
groups in the employment industry, a private psychiatric hospital, and private practice.

lack of self-discipline with healthy lifestyle patterns, difficulties adjusting to new life
circumstances, forming and maintaining healthy relationships/ending unhealthy ones.

Treatment Philosophy
There are a number of different approaches within the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) tradition and the one that best explains the way I work is known as Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) which was originated by Dr. Albert Ellis in the mid-1950s and is the longest established approach within CBT.

I have extensive and advanced training in the theory and practice of CBT with the Australian Institute for REBT and am an Associate Fellow of the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. I have been deemed a suitably qualified RE&CBT therapist, supervisor, and trainer - this means I have high levels skills in the use of CBT and REBT for the benefit of my clients and can supervise and train people professionally to become proficient in these forms of psychotherapy.

I can help you to understand how the way you think, feel, and act affects your well-being, and encourage you to adopt the healthy and helpful attitude that “it is not events that upset us, but our view of them”. I believe that psychological therapy is best done when it is both educational and collaborative. Where possible and appropriate, I like to bring a sense of humour to my work with people.

Ongoing therapy:
• This is for you if you think you need time to effectively deal with your issues.
Single-Session Therapy:
• This is for you if you have a specific issue that can be tackled in a focused way and
you want to deal with it as quickly as possible. The key objective of SST is to help you
get unstuck and move on with your life as quickly as possible.
• This is for you if you want to engage in therapy with others whom have similar issues.

Personal Life
I am heavily influenced by Stoic philosophy (which correlates strongly with REBT) in my personal life and I try to “put it into practice” as much as humanly possible - regularly reminding myself what I do and don’t have control over and meditating on my own mortality. I love getting involved in a good television series with my wife, listening to music, keeping active, reading other kinds of philosophy, and have an interest in learning about war history.

I endeavour to do further study in the field of psychology in the coming years, however, I am very content happily raising a young family at the moment.
