Physiotherapy
What training does a Naturopath have?
A modern Naturopath in practice in Australia is trained in medical sciences, studying subjects such as anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, symptomatology, diagnosis and pathology, pharmacology and the modalities of herbal medicine, homoeopathy, nutrition, and massage. At some colleges counselling skills are included as part of the basic program. Some naturopaths have undertaken extra training in iridology and ower essences.
How can I tell if a Naturopath is qualified?
An appropriately trained Naturopath is most likely to hold membership of a professional body such as the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) or Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA). These bodies set academic standards for members and hold investigative powers. Members will only be accepted after completing their training at approved colleges or courses.
