Joshua Laurie - Osteopath
B.App. Sci. (Comp. Med), M. Ost
Josh moved to Newcastle in January 2009 to take up a great opportunity with the team at ATUNE. Josh studied osteopathy at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science (complementary Medicine) and Master of osteopathy.
During his studies, Josh gained further experience in the health care field through his work with local sporting organizations, clinical placements and research. Josh was part of a research team during his final years at university, investigating how the body adapts and compensates following lateral ankle sprains. The article and poster from the research earned Josh and his colleagues an award at the 2008 national osteopathic convocation.
Josh enjoys using a wide range of osteopathic techniques and treatment styles. "I feel that as osteopaths we are very fortunate to have so many varied skills at our disposal and I like to utilize this as much as possible during my treatments. This gives us the ability to tailor each treatment to what the client's specific needs are, improving the effectiveness of the treatment."
Josh enjoys an active lifestyle and keeps very busy away from Osteopathy. He plays AFL for the Warners Bay Bulldogs, is a keen mountain biker and enjoys the odd surf or round of golf. Aside from his sporting interests, Josh also enjoys travelling and has spent time overseas in the UK as well as backpacking through south east asia.
Josh aims to continue his professional development during his time at ATUNE, with the aim of one day starting his own health care facility. In the meantime however, he is happily enjoying his time as a member of the ATUNE team and is looking forward to contributing further as the centre continues to grow.
