Why Not Volunteer ?


Life has a way of just happening.  We become busy with doing what needs to be done and our lives fall into a routine.  In many instances there is little time for us to become bored!  Over time however, many people find that their lives change.  We may experience a change of career or move house; and inevitably the children grow up.   At some point in life we may realise that we have a lot more time on our hands than we previously had.  Perhaps this is the stage of life where some people experience a loss of identity while others may believe that their usefulness in life has ended.  Both of these thoughts can lead to low mood and lethargy. This stage of life is not an end at all, but rather becomes an opportunity to invest in life in a different way. Volunteering is a great way to renew interest in life and improve our mental health.  Contributing to a charity or church outreach allows us to experience real positive changes that occur in the lives of others and reminds us of how valuable our contribution can be.  Giving to others expands our understanding of life and creates a sense of belonging to the community. There are many worthwhile causes that we can become involved in.  If you have some time on your hands consider volunteering, and experience the rewards that giving to others brings.
