Dean O'Rourke - Buteyko Practitioner
B. Ed. H & Phys Ed (hons) M BIBH. Cert III, Cert IV RT.
Dean O'Rourke joined the team at ATUNE Health Centre in 2008. Dean is an honours graduate from the University of Newcastle in Health and Physical Education, and has been a health educator in the Hunter for over 15 years. He is also a fitness instructor and Royal Life Saving Society Senior Resuscitation Trainer and Assessor. Dean is a qualified Buteyko Practitioner and a member of the Buteyko Institute of Breathing and Health.
Dean has worked to positively impact the health of literally hundreds of individuals in the Hunter region. He has a published submission with the Federal Parliamentary Standing committee on Health and Ageing in the inquiry into the national obesity epidemic. He has also been an invited guest on a number of local radio stations to discuss health issues in the Hunter.
Dean understands that dysfunctional breathing patterns and other lifestyle factors such as nutrition, exercise, drug use, stress, time management, sleep patterns and relationship issues are key factors contributing to poor health for many in our community.
Dean has the knowledge and skills to empower people to overcome a range of common health problems including asthma, insomnia, snoring, obstructive sleep apnoea, hay fever, chronic respiratory infections, panic attacks and more. His passion is to help individuals achieve optimum health and vitality for their lives.
