James Stockley has been a qualified physiotherapist since 1996 and is the Principal of Physiotherapy at ATUNE Health Centres. James graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Applied Science Physiotherapy and holds a post graduate Certificate in Kinetic Control from Keele University in the United Kingdom. He has worked extensively throughout the United Kingdom and the Hunter Region.

For the past 11 years James has worked with key Newcastle and Sydney orthopedic surgeons. His knowledge of pathophysiology, manual therapy and specialized skills in the area of motor control and muscle imbalance retraining provide the expertise to maximize the rehabilitative potential of his clients. James believes “effective physiotherapy is all about optimizing the functional, vocational and sporting goals of the individual using the most up-to-date clinical reasoning and evidence based practice”.  His specialty areas of interest include the shoulder, spine and hip pathologies.

Further to clinical practice, James is a respected consultant to diverse health professionals and is in demand as a clinical educator.  He provides training for medical practitioners, physiotherapists and osteopaths. Since 2003 James has been actively involved in the clinical training of new physiotherapy graduates both in the private and public sector.

 With regards to activities other than work, James loves his sport and has a strong background in the fields of cricket, soccer and tennis.
